Cahit Sitki Taranci was born in 1910 into the prominent "Pirinççizadeler" family in Diyarbakır. The house where he spent his childhood, now a museum, was built in 1733. Tarancı is one of the most important poets of the Turkish Republic era, known for exploring themes of life and death. He completed his education in Istanbul, where he formed a lifelong friendship with Ziya Osman Saba at Galatasaray High School. The Cahit Sitki Taranci Museum not only showcases the poet’s life but also serves as a key cultural landmark reflecting Diyarbakir’s rich heritage.
