Persepolis is an autobiographical graphical novel. Marjane Satrapi describes her childhood and teenage years in detail during and after the Iranian Islamic Revolution. The novel starts with Marjane when she is 10 years old. Her family thinks that the environment is not safe and sends her away to Vienna to continue her life.
It shows us how it is to be a young Iranian girl growing up in conflict and trying to find herself in this environment. It reveals the regime, Islamic democracy, and especially the oppression of the women population.
